Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time Web Content Manager to support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate.

 

Tasks may include performing making web content updates web development, computer programing and database integration; supporting data collection, statistical analysis and visualization of progress towards achieving objectives; articulating and assisting the customer with defining and refining product requirements; and supporting S&T Communications & Outreach Division (COD). This individual will be responsible for supporting multiple websites, SharePoint pages and portals that contain information in support of the organization’s goals. This candidate should excel at using programming languages and design programs to successfully complete their work.

 

This position requires strong customer interaction skills and a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders across multiple tasks. The Web Developer will review and organize website content based on the aesthetic, functional, strategic and technical criteria established by the client. They work with clients, customers and content developers to reorganize and revise content as needed based on a shared understanding of business needs and the needs of the audience groups. They use audits, data, research and technical skill to deliver a user-friendly online and mobile experience. Additional responsibilities include supporting an internal resource toolkit and SharePoint site.

 

This mid-level, full-time position is primarily located onsite at DHS locations in Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA, though temporary telework will be available during COVID-19. This is a contingent hire position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison for all web content throughout S&T offices; solicit and review material submitted by S&T offices for the web site as well as internal S&T Connect SharePoint site.
  • Support GovDelivery email distribution platform.
  • Work involves the technical planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and management of Internet and intranet activities (including other computer-based visual media).
  • Knowledge of computer and networking with applications, principles, concepts, and methods is required.
  • Stays abreast of latest developments in website tools and technology and implements these new developments on DHS S&T website, www.dhs.gov/science-and-technology.
  • Conduct usability audits and support development of a more user-friendly interface.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve content migration errors.
  • Review and update missing content, images, links and other information impacting the user experience or search engine optimization.
  • Use web data analytics and digital tools to improve overall performance.
  • Support quarterly web performance reporting using Google Analytics and other related tools.
  • Maintain and refine internal toolkit and SharePoint sites.
  • Track, quality check and resolve all web updates for review with the client on a regular basis.
  • Make proactive recommendations to improve the user experience and campaign performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure all content meets Section 508 accessibility requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • 3+ years of relevant experience, including content management with Content Management Systems, e.g., Drupal.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders to collect and prepare content for web posting.
  • Ability to collaborate directly with client stakeholders as well as internal creative and communication strategy resources.
  • Familiarity with both management of external websites and internal intranet portals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, or other related field.
  • Active DHS Suitability Determination.
  • Experience supporting large federal agencies.

  • Ability to resolve complex issues quickly and work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.

  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Strong time management, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
