Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking Expert Cyber Security Analyst to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans. 

Primary Responsibilities

An Expert Cyber Security Analyst has extensive IT experience with Cyber Security Policy and threat mitigation. Must be well versed in Cyber Security Tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks.  Analyst must possess a high level of expertise in developing long term strategies and be knowledgeable about various cyber threats and mitigation. Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

 

  • Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures for the protection of the organization's data, systems, and networks. 
  • Troubleshooting security and network problems 
  • Responding to all system and/or network security breaches 
  • Ensuring that the organization's data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls. 
  • Participating in the change management process. 
  • Testing and identifying network and system vulnerabilities. 
  • Daily administrative tasks, reporting, and communication with the relevant departments in the organization. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Other Engineering or technical discipline is required. 
    (12 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.).  
  • 15 years related experience required 
  • Must have extensive IT experience with cyber security policy and threat mitigation.  
  • Must be well versed in cyber security tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks.   
  • Must possess a high level of expertise in developing long term strategies and be knowledgeable about various cyber threats and mitigation. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance. 
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.  
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment. 
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail. 
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings. 
  • Knowledge of military and Veteran populations.
