Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Graphic Designer with proven experience developing a variety of traditional and digital creative materials to support a federal client with IT-related communications strategies and services. Tasks will include developing simple publication designs and graphic design development for large-scale communications and outreach campaigns for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

 

The Graphic Designer will produce deliverables that help communicate complex topics to a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Work products include, but are not limited to, web and presentation graphics, fact sheets, posters and flyers, branding templates, infographics, social media and blog visuals, and logos and icons. The Graphic Designer will also assist with defining and influencing strategy and work directly with clients to create concepts and develop designs. He/she must not only lead/support creative development but work and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.

 

This is a full-time position in Washington, DC, with potential for remote work with client approval. This is a contingent hire.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop products that support national communications and outreach campaigns to a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Create a wide range of products for communications campaigns to include web and presentation graphics, fact sheets, posters and flyers, branding templates, infographics, social media and blog visuals, and logos and icons.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.
  • Provide rapid response support for VA Office of Information Technology senior leadership requests.
  • Deploy novel technologies and design methodologies to execute the client’s vision.
  • Proven experience in managing small projects and meeting deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in graphic design/arts
  • BS/BA degree in graphic design/art, or a related field of study.
  • Portfolio required.
  • Proven experience in managing projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite to include, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools, which currently include Zoom, Box, and Slack.
  • Experience managing all aspects of creative production, from concept to distribution.
  • Translate complex messaging into visually appealing designs that are easy for audiences to understand and use.
  • Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with conceptual design, logo development, branding and marketing work in the healthcare sector.
  • Strong time management, creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of concepting and implementation of visual elements (layout, typography and color theory).
  • Adeptness with leading design software packages, including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Active VA PIV card is preferred.
