Job Summary

Provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services for patients undergoing various surgical procedures, including but not limited to orthopedic surgery, major vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, ENT procedures, urologic surgeries, gynecologic procedures, general surgery, colorectal surgeries, and ophthalmologic operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Care:
    • Offer clinical care to patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in specialized areas such as the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites.
  2. Critical Care and Pain Management:
    • Provide primary coverage for patients in the surgical intensive care unit, short-stay unit, and acute and chronic pain management services.
    • Perform diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography for both medical and surgical patients.
    • Manage emergency airway situations as needed.
  3. Consultative Services:
    • Provide consultative services at the bedside for non-ambulatory patients.
    • Offer consultative services in the outpatient clinic setting for patients able to report to the clinic.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology.
  • Current state medical license in any state that is clear and active.
  • Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency program.
  • Fellowship training or experience in specialized areas such as critical care, pain management, or cardiac anesthesia preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care in accordance with VA standards.
