Job Summary

Aptive Resources is seeking a qualified Anesthesiologist to provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services at the Hampton VA Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and effective patient care both during regular clinic hours and on-call shifts.

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Clinic or OR Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
  • On-call: 4:30 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. Monday to Friday, 24 hours Saturday, Sunday, and Federal Holidays

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Provide clinical Anesthesiology services in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations and established clinic schedules.
  2. Ensure prompt attendance and physical presence in the clinic or operating room at scheduled start times for clinics and surgeries.
  3. Deliver comprehensive clinical care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures including but not limited to cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations.
  4. Provide clinical care for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in cardiac catheterization laboratories, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites.
  5. Offer primary coverage for patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography, and emergency airway management.
  6. Conduct bedside consultative services for non-ambulatory patients and outpatient clinic consultations for ambulatory patients.
  7. Provide clinical supervision to the staff CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification in Anesthesiology
  • Valid and unrestrictive state license in any state
  • Completion of residency training in Anesthesiology
  • Demonstrated experience in providing clinical Anesthesiology services in a hospital setting
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with medical staff, residents, and other healthcare professionals
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care in accordance with established standards and protocols
  • Willingness to fulfill on-call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
