Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Social Media Specialist with demonstrated experience in social media strategy and creation to support a federal client with IT-related communications strategies and services. In this position, you will be responsible for managing social media strategy, creating content, and monitoring key performance indicators for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

 

Tasks may include creating products ideal for sharing on standard channels and innovative sites; optimizing platforms to promote interaction; using materials and messages distributed, tracked, and evaluated through digital properties to gather real-time feedback; conducting regular reviews of communications and campaign performance; and making changes based on results to ensure messages and delivery mediums are effective and resonate with target audiences.

 

This is a full-time hybrid position in Washington, DC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and implement digital and social media strategy.
  • Research and write new, high-quality, and audience-specific content for a variety of products including e-publications, blogs, fact sheets, podcasts, press releases, and collateral material such as FAQs and flyers for social media distribution.
  • Manage activities across multiple social media campaigns and accounts; interact with client leadership to prioritize activities; and define timelines, editorial calendars, and outputs.
  • Leverage the latest social media tools (e.g., Social Studio, HootSuite, Sprout Social) to determine public sentiment toward key topics, manage posting schedules, post and respond to content, and track performance measures.
  • Utilize brand awareness and engagement, earned media, employee engagement, and conversions metrics to inform strategy.
  • Support the development of social media plans and campaigns to maximize effective communication and outreach to deliver mission-focused messages among diverse audiences.
  • Ensure tone and focus are appropriate for target audiences and that content complies with style guides.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to enhance visibility of content with relevant audiences.
  • Create visually appealing Section 508-complaint graphics for each post that are tailored to the specific needs of each audience and platform.
  • Make recommendations to the design team and project manager for new, updated content to support evolving online messaging needs and identify gaps or ways to improve collateral materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of social media management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field.
  • Proficient using multi-social posting programs such as Hootsuite and HubSpot.
  • Experience supporting large federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Active Public Trust security clearance preferred; ability to obtain one required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
