Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Policy Lead to help support VA's National Standards of Practice.

 

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in guiding the team developing, reviewing and publishing VA’s national standards of practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in the government consulting industry, project management experience, significant writing and editing experience, as well as experience reviewing written policies. Moreover, the candidate should have experience in managing internal and public comments to proposed policy, as well as guiding regulations and policies through the concurrence process.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide project leadership in all aspects of planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of work products (specifically proposed policies) and anticipate risks and needs as driven by project work plans.
  • Create, review, and finalize written materials (meeting minutes, presentations, VA policies) to be compliant with VA and client expectations.
  • Independently manage a team of junior to mid-level consultants, providing oversight and guidance to deliver all components of basic and stand-alone projects. Review products developed by team, identifying and correcting errors.
  • Plan client meetings by anticipating needs as driven by the work plan, coordinate meetings with key stakeholders, develop data requests, and document key questions to be answered throughout the engagement.
  • Create meaningful relationships with clients.
  • Create work plans including project staffing, project approach, and resource requests to be reviewed with clients and Executives.
  • Produce thought leadership papers, presentations, blogs, case studies, and presence at national conferences/meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Must have 5+ years of government consulting experience
  • Knowledge/experience writing, reviewing and editing policies and regulations
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical and deductive skills
  • Must be able to effectively use data to present program status and make recommendations on improving business processes
  • Must be able to create, review, and identify risks and errors throughout the policy development process
  • Should be able to comfortably interface, both orally and via written communications with various stakeholders (government and outside)
  • Strong written and communication skills to include developing reports, briefings, and similar artifacts

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters degree
  • Experience with VHA Central Office
