Job Summary

Aptive Resources is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive cardiac catheterization services at the VA Medical Center in Palo Alto, VA. The ideal candidate will have specialized expertise in cardiac catheterization, transaortic valve replacement, and electrophysiology procedures. This role requires a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

 

Anticipated Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiac catheterization, transaortic valve replacement, and electrophysiology procedures.
  • Monitor and assess patients during and after procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Demonstrate advanced nursing skills in ECG monitoring, hemodynamics, and emergency response.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, treatment plans, and post-procedure care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and procedures in the electronic medical records system.
  • Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Current, valid, and unrestricted state license for Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • All continuing education courses required for maintaining certifications, degrees, and licenses must be up to date at all times. Documentation verifying current certification must be provided to the VA COR upon request.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of critical care experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years within the past three (3) years of experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
  • Demonstrated competence and excellence in advanced nursing skills, ECG monitoring, hemodynamics, emergency response, patient teaching, and communication with patients and their families.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with the VA healthcare system.
  • Familiarity with the VA electronic medical records system
