Aptive is seeking high-performing graduate students for the Federal Management Consulting  Internship Program (Health Care). The ideal candidate is a self-starter with proven critical thinking, communication, client relationship, and writing skills, eager to learn about federal consulting and federal agencies. In this role, you will experience, firsthand, how to support health care system transformation and innovation, program implementation and evaluation, and business process redesign enabling services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA). You will support writing for high-level clients, research, data analysis, knowledge management, and other functions in this role.

 

The day-to-day work will include developing presentations, performing research and analysis, responding to client requests, providing client meeting support, and more. Excellent communication and time management skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite, and the flexibility to work both independently and within a team environment will be critical to this role’s success.

Aptive’s Federal Management Consultant Interns (Health Care) will gain meaningful, real‐world experience in federal health care management consulting and can expect to develop both hard and soft skills by engaging in and/or assisting with many of the following activities:

  • Supporting quantitative and qualitative research to measure, govern, and evaluate
    performance.
  • Assisting with the development of insightful recommendations to federal agencies
    and Congress.
  • Utilizing critical and analytical thinking skills to inform client projects and program
    requirements.
  • Ensuring clear communication, organization, and coordination between multiple
    stakeholders.
  • Facilitating resolution sessions to validate client leadership decisions and drive
    growth and progress.
  • Creating business case decision models or execute business process redesign
    process mapping to optimize clients’ operational productivity and outcomes.
  • Providing administrative support, event planning, and other ad-hoc tasks as needed.
  • Assisting with Congressional reports, presentations, and white papers.
  • Utilizing Tableau, Microsoft PowerBi, and Microsoft Power Apps to learn how to
    analyze complex data.

 

Other Information:

  • Some work may be virtual, but it is preferred that candidates can work in the DC
    Metro area.
  • Anticipated time commitment is at least 20 hours per week.
  • Interns will be compensated commensurate with experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engage in research to measure, govern and evaluate performance.
  • Conduct detailed analyses to draw conclusions and develop pertinent and insightful recommendations.
  • Utilize critical and analytical thinking skills to assist in determining clients’ projects and programs requirements.
  • Ensure clear communication, organization and coordination between multiple stakeholders.
  • Present content that addresses client needs in solutioning sessions to drive toward a decision and/or validate decisions with client leadership to drive growth and progress.
  • Create business case decision models, customer financial models, or execute process mapping to optimize clients’ operational productivity, forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Provide administrative support, event planning, and other ad-hoc tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • To qualify for the Federal Management Consulting internship Program (Health Care), the candidate must be currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management, Health Care Administration, Public Health, or related fields at an accredited college or university while participating in the internship.
