Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time Senior Evaluator to provide high quality support for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) contracts. The Senior Evaluator will support cross-site evaluations of behavioral health initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Evaluator will work as part of a team to lead data analysis, evaluation, and reporting tasks, ensuring a rigorous and robust evaluation. This role requires collaboration and alignment across various studies and workstreams. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, refine, and document evaluation strategies.
  • IdAssist in development or refinement of data collection instruments.
  • Gather, clean, manage, and analyze data from reports, local evaluations, focus groups and other
    sources (qualitative and quantitative data).
  • Promote consistent data use and definitions.
  • Synthesize process and outcome data.
  • Support development of dynamic data visualizations, reports, and/or publications for multiple
    audiences (including HHS, OMB, Congress, grantees, the public).
  • Support development of technical assistance (TA) plans and materials.
  • Collaborate with TA team to enable effective delivery of evaluation-focused TA to grantees.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to address evaluation barriers or delays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Strong background in program evaluation, particularly in behavioral health, crisis services, or suicide prevention.
  • Ability to synthesize and translate complex data for various stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, and grantees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing guidance documents and reports.
  • Experience in leveraging and standardizing data sets for cross-site evaluation.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong data analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and management using R and Power BI.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and manage multiple
    priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience mixed methods and triangulating data from multiple sources.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SAMHSA programs, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and related services.
  • Familiarity with analyzing large data sets (i.e., CDC).
  • Familiarity with national data collection tools such as the NSDUH and N-SUMHSS is a plus.
  • Expertise in crisis services evaluation or related fields.
  • Experience supporting evaluations for Federal clients.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and work well with others.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to deadlines efficiently and effectively.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact and engage with Executive-level stakeholders.
