Overview:

Join our team as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist/CT Technologist, specializing in diagnostic imaging to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. We are seeking a highly skilled DRT/CT Technologist with at least two years of experience in advanced DRT/CT applications to join our team. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiographic principles.

Full Time, Evening/Overnight Schedule:

This role follows a compressed, rotating schedule designed to meet patient care needs, with the possibility of adjustments as directed by the Radiology Chief.

  • Week 1:
    • Sunday: Midnight to 8:00 AM
    • Thursday: 8:00 PM to Midnight
    • Friday: Midnight to 7:00 AM; 8:00 PM to Midnight
    • Saturday: Midnight to 8:00 AM; 8:00 PM to Midnight
  • Week 2:
    • Sunday: Midnight to 8:00 AM
    • Wednesday: 8:00 PM to Midnight
    • Thursday: Midnight to 6:00 AM; 8:00 PM to Midnight
    • Friday: Midnight to 7:00 AM; 8:00 PM to Midnight
    • Saturday: Midnight to 8:00 AM; 8:00 PM to Midnight

Primary Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Operation: Operate a variety of imaging equipment to perform diagnostic exams, including Fluoroscopic and General Diagnostic exams, Portable Radiography, Portable Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography exams, and Angiographic procedures.
  • Contrast Preparation: Prepare and administer contrast materials under the radiologist's direction for exams such as UGI, BE, Small Bowel, Barium Swallows, and Angiographic studies, ensuring patient safety and prompt reaction to any adverse responses.
  • Radiation Documentation: Record all radiation doses for fluoroscopy exams in the technologist's comment section and generate dose summary reports.
  • Radiology Orders & Exam Accuracy: Review and interpret radiology requests, ensure accuracy in the order screening process, and input patient information into computer systems, maintaining accuracy for registration, exam completion, and editing.
  • Exam Quality & Safety: Perform and complete imaging studies within established guidelines, prioritizing exams as stat, preop, urgent, or routine, and maintain high quality to minimize patient dosage and reduce costs.
  • Procedure Assistance: Work as part of the radiology team to assist radiologists in various procedures, ensuring sterile techniques and maintaining the sterile field.
  • Infection Control & Safety Compliance: Adhere to infection control and safety protocols, operate equipment safely, and apply sterile techniques, including proper handling of supplies and disposal of sharps.
  • Patient Identification & Exam Details: Verify patient identity using full name, social security number, and ensure accurate documentation of scan details, including R & L markers, contrast administration, and body position for each image.
  • CT & Interventional Procedures: Perform a full range of CT imaging, including head, chest, abdomen, and angiographic studies, as well as interventional procedures like biopsies and abscess drainages using sterile techniques.
  • Radiation Safety & Dose Optimization: Maintain knowledge of CT dose optimization techniques and adhere to radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and oneself.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in advanced DRT/CT imaging.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Current Computed Tomography (CT) certification
  • Certified to insert IV needles for administration of contrast material when necessary
  • Strong anatomical knowledge, understanding of radiographic illumination of systems and organs, and ability to detect changes due to medical conditions.
