Job Summary

Job Title: Board-certified/Board-eligible Internist/Family Practice Physicians

Location: Michael E. DeBakey VAMC, 2002 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030, and 11 CBOCs

Period of Performance: 1 base year. 4 option years.

Work Schedule: 6 (12,480 hours per year) Full Time Equivalent (FTE) onsite Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Internist/Family practice services. On-Site.

  • This role may involve shifts that are not finalized at the time of hire. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility and openness to a broad range of scheduling possibilities.
  • Candidates selected for this role are expected to disclose and coordinate any additional employment to avoid conflicts with assigned shifts.

Position Description:

  • Onsite Internist/Family Practice physician services

Primary Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the practice of medicine or direct services to patients that involves the performance of diagnostic, preventative, or therapeutic services in hospitals and clinics.
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat and prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Order, perform, interpret tests, and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients conditions.
  • Monitor progress of patients conditions and re-evaluate treatment as necessary. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  • Coordinate work with Nurses, Pharmacists, Social Workers, and other allied health professionals in the provision of a variety of health services.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Medical degree, Residency training. Internist or Family practice specialty.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • At least one year experience.
