Job Summary

Medical Instrument Technician (Echocardiography)

Location: VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) – Multiple Sites
Contract Period: Base Year + Three Option Years
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Hourly: 60.00/hr plus 4.93 for Health and Wellness 

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Perform echocardiograms, including stress echo and transesophageal echocardiography.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and explain processes.
  • Identify and document cardiac anomalies using ultrasound imaging.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and recognize adverse reactions.
  • Maintain and calibrate echocardiographic equipment.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists and healthcare providers to ensure diagnostic accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Echocardiography Technician program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification.
  • Minimum one year of echocardiography experience.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to interpret sonographic images and assist in diagnosing cardiovascular conditions.
