Location: VA Maine Healthcare System – Togus VA Medical Center, Augusta, ME


Position Type: Full-Time, Contract (2.0 FTE)


Schedule: OR coverage 6:30 AM–3:00 PM; On-call coverage 3:00 PM–6:30 AM (rotating shifts)

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible CRNAs to provide comprehensive, high-quality anesthesia care for Veteran patients at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. This includes preoperative evaluations, intraoperative anesthesia, and postoperative recovery care. Providers will work as part of a collaborative perioperative team in a state-of-the-art surgical setting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver anesthesia care for a variety of surgical specialties, including orthopedic, vascular, ENT, urology, general surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, and colorectal procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-op assessments, administer anesthesia, and monitor intraoperative and postoperative patient conditions.
  • Perform airway management, regional anesthesia, and sedation.
  • Respond to airway emergencies while on-call; must be on-site within 30 minutes.
  • Participate in anesthesia-related quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
  • Document all care provided in the VA’s electronic health record system in accordance with policy and national standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program.
  • Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible CRNA.
  • Licensure: Unrestricted RN and APRN license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS (must remain current).
  • Experience: Prior VA experience or similar federal clinical setting preferred but not required.
  • Other Requirements: Must meet all immunization, background, and credentialing requirements per VA standards (including TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19, and Influenza).
