Veteran Health - Consulting Roles on VHA Projects

Job Summary

Background of EHRM:

VA is implementing the new Federal electronic health record (EHR) system to store and track patient medical information. This effort is known as VA’s Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM). The Federal EHR is now in use at six VA medical centers (VAMCs) and their 25 associated clinics and serves more than 275,000 Veterans.

The new, common Federal EHR will provide a single, accurate, lifetime health record for Veterans and include their health records from the Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), and other federal partners. For Veterans, this will result in improved standardization of health care delivery, patient care quality, and safety. The modernized EHR also supports a more coordinated experience for VA staff and clinicians as they care for Veterans and will improve interoperability with the rest of the American health care system.

Aptive HTG is seeking a PowerApps and Power BI Developer to support the development, enhancement, and sustainment of digital tools used to manage and coordinate EHRM activities within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This individual will develop custom applications and reports using Power Platform technologies, enabling more effective workflows and data-driven decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom business applications using Power Apps (Canvas and model-driven) and Power Automate
  • Automate manual business processes and workflows to improve operational efficiency
  • Design and implement data integrations across systems using Power Platform connectors and APIs
  • Provide user support, documentation, and training for deployed solutions
  • Develop interactive Power BI dashboards and paginated reports that provide actionable insights from complex data sets

  • Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot existing Power BI reports and datasets
  • Collaborate with data analysts and subject matter experts to define reporting needs and technical requirements
  • Work closely with stakeholders, analysts, developers, and project managers to deliver effective low-code/no-code solutions
  • Conduct workshops, demos, and presentations to educate users on Power Platform capabilities
  • Stay current with the latest Microsoft Power Platform tools, technologies, and best practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI
  • Experience working with healthcare data, particularly within federal or clinical systems
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL
