Summary:
Aptive Resources is seeking a skilled Dermatology Registered Nurse (RN). As an RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients within an outpatient setting. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care, focusing on prevention, wellness, and disease management. Your expertise will be essential in promoting health education, assessing patient needs, and coordinating healthcare services to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Rate: $45/hr plus full time benefits and sick leave
Shifts: Nurses can expect to work 8-hour shifts M-F. Day shift only
Location: Atlanta VA Medical Center -- 1670 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA 30033
Primary Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment and Care:
Conduct thorough initial patient assessments, including health history, physical examinations, and symptom evaluation. Monitor and manage patient conditions and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans. Assess and treat conditions such as rashes, acne, eczema, and skin infections.
- Health Education and Counseling:
Educate patients and families on preventive care, wellness strategies, and treatment options. Provide guidance on medication usage, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications to promote overall health and well-being, including sun safety and dermatologic treatment plans.
- Care Coordination:
Coordinate patient care activities, including referrals to specialists, diagnostic tests (e.g., skin biopsies, allergy testing), and follow-up appointments. Ensure seamless transitions between healthcare settings and maintain communication with interdisciplinary team members.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical histories, symptoms, dermatologic assessments, treatments, and outcomes. Adhere to regulatory requirements and organizational policies for documentation and reporting.
- Patient Advocacy:
Advocate for patients’ rights and preferences, ensuring their voices are heard in healthcare decision-making processes. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to facilitate open communication and shared decision making.
- Quality Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes and operational efficiencies. Contribute to evidence-based practice guidelines and clinical protocols.
- Emergency Response:
Assess and respond to medical emergencies within the scope of practice, providing immediate care and initiating emergency protocols as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States.
- Certification: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years prior experience in an outpatient clinical setting
- Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
- Ability to perform under pressure in emergency situations.
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
- Team-oriented with a focus on collaborative patient care.
- Ability to complete and successfully pass any required government background check
