VA WRJ is experiencing a shortage of Phlebotomists and is seeking qualified professionals to provide onsite phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing at a standard equal to a state-of-the-art civilian medical facility. Care must meet or exceed CLSI guidelines and recognized national standards. The requirement is two (2) Full-Time Equivalents (FTE), which may be fulfilled by 2–3 individuals providing the total hours equivalent to 2 full-time employees.
Perform patient phlebotomy across settings: inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, Emergency Department (ED), including STAT, ASAP, and timed draws.
Process specimens and prepare/send-outs per protocol.
Positively identify patients prior to collection and verify samples prior to testing or aliquoting.
Safeguard electronic and paper patient information at all times.
Identify, document, and resolve collection or processing issues promptly.
Deliver patient-centered, professional service that minimizes complaints from stakeholders and customers.
Work across multiple lab areas as needed based on service demands.
(Contractor-level support) Assist VA WRJ with implementing staffing needs.
Minimum 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience required.
Demonstrated technical proficiency in phlebotomy, specimen handling/processing, and related workflows.
Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
Commitment to CLSI standards and patient safety, including strict adherence to positive patient identification and privacy practices.
Will be required to provide documentation, upon CO/COR request, verifying current and ongoing competency, skills, certification, and/or licensure related to services performed.
