Job Summary

Aptive seeks a Credentialing Specialist to support the credentialing process, including verifying licenses, certifications, education, training, and professional references. The candidate will ensure that healthcare professionals meet the necessary qualifications and credentials required for employment or affiliation with a healthcare facility.

This is an Analyst-level, full-time position in Washington, DC, with potentiall hybrid work schedule. 
 
The expected compensation at the time of requisition creation, is between $50,000 and $60,000.  The position offers with medical, dental and vision coverage.  Additional benefits such as 401K, disability insurance and PTO are provided as well.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all functions related to healthcare worker and other contractor staff
    credentialing, re-credentialing and privileging in accordance with regulatory/compliance guidelines as well as IHSC requirements.
  • Responsible for obtaining and verifying credentials, certifications, state licensures, and otherprofessional credentials as well as maintaining on-going checks to ensure that all credentialsremain current.
  •  Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credential/privileging files, whether in hard copy or electronic form.
  • Initiates and follows through on all aspects of the credentialing process, including initial and credentialing, for all healthcare and other staff as needed.
  • Prepares and generates healthcare worker and other staff credentialing/privileging packets and provides guidance to ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct various background checks from a wide variety of sources as needed to verify the credentials and suitability of candidates, including but not limited to: NPDB, OIG/GSA, National Sex Offender Registry, and the National Student Clearinghouse.
  • Maintains new hire as well as on-going credential files for IHSC staff, and makes them accessible as needed. Ensure they contain evidence of all certifications required, including training requirements.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the currency of all credential files. Verify that annual or other training/licensure is completed on a timely basis, and that credential files are updated to reflect the current status of all staff
  • Produce monthly and ad hoc reports to identify any missing data or credentials, any
    credentials/certifications that are lapsing, and the status of employees’ credential files
  • Verify/validate employment experience, education, licensure, residency and other training, specialty board certification or current eligibility, and any other information from a resume, curriculum vitae, etc. as needed.
  • Document all work performed to ensure that all information is properly recorded and tracked
  • Works closely with vendor recruiting staff as needed to provide updates on the status of activities and notify them of the outcome of research.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years expereince 
  • Knowledge of the credentialing and privileging process, requirements and scope of practice.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, to prioritize needs and expedite credentialing upon request.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.
  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in English (verbal and written) in order to develop
    positive rapport with co-workers and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary
    environment.
  • Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including web based research,
    training and communications.
  • Knowledge of, and moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs,
    specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient
    medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
