Job Summary

Aptive is seeking support the Mission Daybreak 2.0 contract to support VA’s Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP) and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Innovation Ecosystem. The program builds on VA’s innovation and human-centered design frameworks to rapidly test, evaluate, and scale solutions that reduce Veteran suicide. Aptive’s team will manage a portfolio of innovation projects, coordinate governance and reporting, deliver evaluation and research insights, plan stakeholder and engagement events, and support the development of scalable training and communications products.

Primary Responsibilities

This Project Manager role will directly oversee assigned innovation projects as they progress through VA’s S0–S7 innovation gates, ensuring projects are designed, tested, scaled, and launched in alignment with portfolio standards. The PM is accountable for guiding project teams through decision points, delivering required evidence packages, and keeping timelines and deliverables on track.

 

In addition to lifecycle management, this PM provides specialized leadership in discovery, prototyping, and usability testing, ensuring human-centered design insights are integrated into decision briefs.

This role manages timelines, collaborates with designers and researchers, and ensures evidence from usability testing translates into actionable portfolio decision briefs. The PM ensures projects adhere to VA’s HCD, RE-AIM, and QUERI frameworks and coordinates with analysts and evaluation specialists to integrate findings into decision points.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree.
  • 4 years of experience in project management.
  • PMP certification (or equivalent).
  • Experience managing large-scale programs with multiple projects.
  • Experience in healthcare organizations preferred.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong human-centered design (HCD) background.
  • Familiarity with usability testing and product development.
  • Experience with VA’s QUERI and RE-AIM frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple innovation pilots simultaneously.
