Job Summary

Aptive is seeking support the Mission Daybreak 2.0 contract to support VA’s Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP) and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Innovation Ecosystem. The program builds on VA’s innovation and human-centered design frameworks to rapidly test, evaluate, and scale solutions that reduce Veteran suicide. Aptive’s team will manage a portfolio of innovation projects, coordinate governance and reporting, deliver evaluation and research insights, plan stakeholder and engagement events, and support the development of scalable training and communications products.

 

Primary Responsibilities

The Data Management Specialist ensures the program’s portfolio dashboards and reporting systems are accurate, reliable, and trusted by leadership. This role is responsible for managing the back-end of VA-hosted Power BI environments, integrating SQL and other data sources, and ensuring that project-level data rolls up seamlessly into portfolio-level dashboards. They design and maintain data dictionaries, establish refresh schedules, and implement quality checks to flag inconsistencies before they impact deliverables. In close coordination with the Data Analyst Jr. and Evaluation team, the Data Management Specialist ensures that recurring weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports are populated with validated metrics that leadership can use to track readiness, performance, and outcomes. This is a technical role that also requires collaboration with analysts and program managers to translate raw data into decision-ready portfolio insights.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree.
  • 4 years of experience in data management or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in database maintenance, data integrity, and automation of reporting cycles.
  • Ability to manage recurring weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting refreshes.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Power BI (VA-hosted environment).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare program data systems.
  • Familiarity with federal data governance and privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA, FedRAMP).
  • Knowledge of VA or other federal agency data reporting requirements.
  • Background in supporting portfolio dashboards and KPI roll-ups across multiple projects.
