Job Description: Pathologist Physician – Milwaukee VA Medical Center

Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Board-Certified Pathologist Physician to join the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center (Milwaukee VAMC). This position is a one-year contract with one option year and offers the opportunity to provide specialized pathology services to our nation’s veterans in a state-of-the-art medical environment.

The Pathologist will provide diagnostic and consultative services in Anatomic Pathology, meeting or exceeding national standards as established by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath).

 

 

Work Schedule

  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • No weekends, holidays, or overtime required.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional services in Anatomic Pathology, with a focus on Surgical Pathology.

  • Meet turnaround time requirements for surgical pathology and other cases in accordance with VHA Pathology policies and performance measures.

  • Ensure compliance with requirements from accrediting agencies, including:

    • College of American Pathologists (CAP)

    • The Joint Commission (TJC)

    • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

    • American Association of Blood Banks (AABB)

    • Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Pathology policies and procedures

  • Maintain professional clinical privileges (credentialing) at the Milwaukee VAMC.

  • Communicate promptly regarding scheduling changes, absences, or delays to both the contractor and the VA.

  • Adhere to all facility and departmental rules, regulations, and expectations regarding attendance and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.

  • Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology (American Board of Pathology / American Society for Clinical Pathology).

  • Minimum five years of relevant pathology experience, with at least three years of recent practice.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Surgical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory and accreditation requirements (CAP, TJC, FDA, AABB).

  • Ability to obtain and maintain clinical privileges at the Milwaukee VAMC.
