Compensation: 385/hr plus full travel stipend to cover housing and travel costs
Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Contractor shall provide Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterology Physician Services to veterans at the VA Finger Lakes Health Care System. The physician(s) will deliver comprehensive gastroenterology care, including clinical evaluations, diagnostic procedures, consultative services, and surgical endoscopic interventions. All work shall comply with VA policies, procedures, and performance standards.
The Gastroenterology Physician shall provide direct patient care approximately 90% of the time, including but not limited to:
Provide comprehensive gastroenterology services within the scope of privileging.
Arrive on time for all scheduled clinics and procedures.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to:
Colonoscopy (diagnostic, biopsy, ablation, tumor/polyp removal, control of bleeding, via colostomy)
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD diagnostic, with biopsy, with removal, control of bleeding, dilation)
Flexible Sigmoidoscopy (with biopsy, snare, ablation, or control of bleeding)
PEG tube replacement
Provide inpatient bedside consults for non-ambulatory patients.
Conduct outpatient consultations in clinic for ambulatory patients.
Ensure all consults and procedures are completed within 30 days of the consult request.
Report monthly to the VA COR regarding any obstacles impacting performance measures, clinic wait times, or consult completions.
Physicians must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Any physician who has ever held a license that was restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily surrendered, or denied will not be eligible for this contract.
The contractor must ensure all licenses remain active and unrestricted throughout the duration of the contract.
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine with a Subspecialty in Gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
Must hold current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (or approved equivalent).
Continuing education must be maintained and verified annually.
Contractor shall provide documentation of current certifications to the VA Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) annually.
Contractor must provide a current DEA certificate if required for the performance of duties.
