Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Director to lead, manage and scale our Bids and Proposals (B&P) team. This leader will be responsible for overseeing a team of proposal managers, solution architects and writers to develop compelling, compliant proposal products; and implementing a repeatable bid and pursuit process across the entire organization. This role requires a collaborative team leader who can effectively work across Aptive’s Accounts, business development and capture teams to prioritize schedules, shape marketing and capture efforts and lead proposal strategy and processes. The Director must be able to proactively engage with key stakeholders and team members to prioritize resources and deliver the highest quality proposals.
 

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it is primarily remote with the ability to be onsite at Aptive headquarters in Alexandria, VA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in business development, capture and proposal strategy efforts
  • Lead and manage the end to end proposal development process
  • Coach and train proposal teams on the development of complex, compliant and compelling proposal responses
  • Oversee production of proposal outlines, kickoff documentation, compliance matrices and proposal deliverables
  • Oversee development and maintenance of proposal schedules, and drive proposal team in adherence to the schedule from beginning to end, ensuring on-time delivery to the customer
  • Lead daily status meetings and track action items
  • Analyze and shred customer solicitation documents to drive compliance
  • Support proposal color reviews to include detailed reviews and recommendations that drive the highest quality proposals
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying personalities across all functions
  • Participation in continuous improvement activities
  • Provide direction and leadership on priority proposals and projects as assigned
  • Conduct regular proposal progress status meetings and maintain the proposal schedule
  • Direct writing/editing/rewriting efforts, as needed
  • Manage proposal management staff and oversee the company-wide proposal operations infrastructure, including content repositories, overall governance and knowledge management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Significant experience responding to IDIQ's and Task Order RFP's with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of progressive federal government proposal leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience writing proposal volumes; researching and editing compliant proposal content; and leading/participating in color reviews
  • Excellent project management skills and financial acumen as related to business and operational strategy
  • Strong ability to manage multiple activities and priorities, with effective judgment and decision-making skills
  • Adept at translating technical and scientific information into client-friendly proposals
  • Knowledge of federal government contract types (IDIQ, FFP, T&M, CPFF
