Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Social Media Specialist to support a public health education campaign. The Social Media Specialist will support the development and execution of social media outreach that promotes and encourages residents and community partners to utilize targeted resources during mental health or substance use crises.

Working with the project team, the Social Media Specialist will assist with developing and implementing social media strategies, developing and publishing content, monitoring engagement, and supporting campaign analytics and reporting. This role will coordinate with creative, research, and outreach teams to ensure consistent and effective messaging across digital platforms.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting social media accounts and digital campaigns, strong writing skills, and the ability to translate nuanced public health messaging into clear, accessible social media content.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of the project’s social media strategy to support a public health awareness campaign, including identifying appropriate platforms, audience engagement approaches, and content strategies that increase awareness of behavioral health resources and crisis support services.
  • Develop, write, and manage social media content that promotes behavioral health awareness and crisis resources, including drafting posts, identifying hashtags, and translating complex public health messaging into clear, plain language appropriate for digital audiences.
  • Collaborate with creative and media teams to inform development of social media graphics, videos, and other digital campaign assets and ensure final materials align with social media best practices, campaign messaging, and brand guidelines.
  • Manage the social media content calendar and day-to-day platform activity, including planning post schedules, aligning content with campaign themes and outreach activities, uploading and scheduling approved content through the client-approved publishing platform, and monitoring platform activity and audience engagement across channels such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter).
  • Conduct social listening and analyze social media performance metrics to identify audience trends, relevant conversations, and engagement patterns related to behavioral health and crisis resources. Compile and interpret engagement data to support campaign analytics and reporting, and use insights to inform messaging adjustments, engagement strategies, and ongoing campaign optimization.
  • Support amplification of campaign messaging through partner organizations, community stakeholders, and influencer engagement strategies to expand reach among target audiences.
  • Support additional digital communications, research, reporting, and campaign coordination activities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public health, journalism, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting social media management or digital communications campaigns.
  • Experience drafting and publishing content for major social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube).
  • Experience supporting social media campaigns as part of broader marketing, communications, or public education initiatives.
  • Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar platforms.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, plain language.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting public health, behavioral health, crisis communication, health awareness, or community outreach campaigns.
  • Experience coordinating social media messaging with community partners or stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of digital engagement strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and collaborative team skills.
