Job Summary

Aptive seeks an experienced Program Manager to support the senior level officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Project Manager provides senior-level program management and coordination for enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of high-priority projects directed by VHA leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and supporting the execution of initiatives that reduce organizational variability, enhance operational effectiveness, and improve delivery of care. The Project Manager works closely with senior leadership to establish structured intake processes for new initiatives, prioritize efforts, and ensure disciplined execution across multiple concurrent projects.

Primary Responsibilities

The Project Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining executive-level dashboards, tracking tools, and reporting mechanisms that provide real-time visibility into project status, risks, milestones, and outcomes. This includes producing Green/Yellow/Red status reports, managing integrated project plans, and delivering data-driven insights to inform leadership decision-making. The role requires coordination of planning and execution activities, preparation of executive briefings, and maintenance of visual management boards and portfolio-level reporting to ensure transparency and accountability across all senior leadership-led initiatives.

 

In this role, the Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders across VHA offices to support implementation of strategic initiatives, monitor performance, and proactively manage risks and issues. Responsibilities include ensuring alignment of projects with enterprise priorities, facilitating communication between leadership and execution teams, and supporting continuous improvement of processes and tools used to manage the portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree and certification in project management (e.g. Project Management Professional (PMP)).
  • 10 years of experience in program management in planning, initiating, managing, executing, and closing out programs in support of an integrated health care system.
  • Six years of experience supporting a large corporation or government agency
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
  • Legal authorization to work the in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting VHA or VA enterprise initiatives
  • Experience with:
    • Organizational design and workforce transformation
    • Federal financial management modernization
    • Change management and stakeholder engagement
  • Familiarity with VA policies, systems, and governance structures
