Job Summary

MRI Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT – MRI)

Location: Minneapolis VA Health Care System – Minneapolis, MN

Schedule & Work Hours

  • Standard Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Additional Coverage: Occasional evenings, weekends, on-call, and overtime as needed
  • VA operates 24/7; flexibility required based on demand
  • Compensation: Starting at $55.00/hr plus 5.09 for Health and Wellness

Position Overview

The contractor shall provide one (1) full-time MRI-certified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) to deliver onsite MRI imaging services to veterans at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System.

This role supports clinical imaging operations and ensures high-quality diagnostic imaging in accordance with VA and national standards.

Primary Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties (≈90%)

  • Perform MRI procedures in accordance with established imaging protocols
  • Prepare and position patients; explain procedures and ensure comfort/safety
  • Operate MRI equipment and adjust imaging parameters for optimal quality
  • Review images for diagnostic quality and coordinate with radiologists
  • Follow MRI safety protocols (screening for contraindications, etc.)
  • Provide direct patient care and maintain clinical standards

Administrative Duties (≈10%)

  • Maintain accurate patient records in CPRS (VA electronic health record system)
  • Document procedures, outcomes, and patient interactions
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and care teams
  • Participate in QA/QI activities and patient safety reporting
  • Comply with HIPAA, privacy, and VA documentation requirements

Required Certifications & Credentials

  • ARRT Certification – MRI (R.T. (MR)(ARRT)) – REQUIRED
  • Current, active, and unrestricted certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (renewed every 2 years)

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of MRI experience

Additional Requirements

  • Must meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements
  • Must pass background investigation and obtain PIV badge
  • Must maintain continuing education (CME/CEU) requirements
  • Must be proficient in English (spoken and written)
