Veteran Health - Consulting Roles on VHA Projects

Job Summary

As a Senior Marketing/Media Specialist supporting the VHA AI Education Hub, you will design and execute outreach strategies that communicate the Hub's AI initiatives, tools, and developments to stakeholders across the Veterans Health Administration. Working at the intersection of digital media, interactive design, and federal healthcare communications, you will create compelling, accessible content that educates VA staff, leadership, and partners about emerging artificial intelligence capabilities. This role plays a critical part in shaping how one of the nation's largest healthcare systems understands and adopts transformative AI-driven solutions.

The ideal candidate is a self-directed creative technologist who blends strong visual storytelling instincts with hands-on programming skills, and who thrives in a fast-paced federal environment where clear, mission-driven communication can have a direct impact on Veteran care outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

Design and implement a comprehensive outreach and communications strategy to disseminate VHA AI Education Hub developments, milestones, and resources across the Veterans Health Administration enterprise.

Develop interactive digital media assets — including web-based modules, animations, and data visualizations — using programming languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and design platforms to engage diverse VA audiences.

Collaborate with Hub leadership, subject matter experts, and VA stakeholders to translate complex AI and healthcare concepts into clear, accessible, and visually compelling communications materials.

Manage and maintain the AI Education Hub's web presence, ensuring content is current, Section 508 compliant, and optimized for usability across device types and VA network environments.

Produce and edit multimedia content — including videos, infographics, newsletters, and presentations — tailored to multiple channels such as VA intranet portals, email campaigns, and leadership briefings.

Track, analyze, and report on the performance of outreach efforts using analytics tools, providing data-driven recommendations to continuously improve audience engagement and communication effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in marketing, digital media production, interactive design, or a closely related communications field.

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required.

Prior experience supporting federal agency clients, government healthcare programs, or VA/DoD environments is strongly desired; familiarity with federal communications standards and approval workflows is a plus.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card and satisfy all background investigation requirements necessary for access to VA systems and facilities.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship; this position supports a U.S. federal government contract.

Demonstrated proficiency in both graphical design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma) and front-end programming languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to produce interactive, user-responsive media content.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience developing Section 508-compliant digital content in accordance with federal accessibility standards and VA communications guidelines. • Familiarity with VA or federal health IT ecosystems, including VA intranet platforms (e.g., SharePoint), TMS learning management systems, or VA.gov web environments. • Background in communicating artificial intelligence, data science, or health technology concepts to non-technical audiences in a government or large healthcare organization. • Experience using web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or equivalent) to measure and optimize digital outreach campaigns. • Knowledge of federal plain language standards (Plain Writing Act) and demonstrated ability to apply them across a variety of communication formats and audiences.
